reunions

31Mar10

euston station

night crowd

arrivals and departures

and

the two figures pacing

back and forth in

agitation

in excited pressured speech

impossible to say

what they

are saying, trying to say

to hint the

vaguest gesture

and up above a billboard

‘waiting for godot’

looms overhead while talking of how to

speak and whether in speaking

anything is said

the same old sayings of

so many said before yet still

.

old questions return always

scene of some

improper and imperfect crime

of meaning

of distinction

of telling what holds or fails

from what suspends

what is impossible from

impossible

and saying ‘this is the absurd

speech’

then away and parting

divergence

in the dark

one

to home where a

woman waits

and the other through

familar

streets

the two of them still frenzy

minded

the two of them

still mumbling

after so long spent

apart

and imprinted fresh from

cinema screen intimacy distance

a blaze of faith

miracles

and the eternal

doubting

echoes from a tanoy system speaking

unattended items

may bedestroyed

or damaged
